HVEDC Welcomes Stoneleaf Construction COO Juan Torres to Board of Directors

GOSHEN, N.Y. (January 22, 2019) – Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC) has welcomed Juan C. Torres, partner with Silo Ridge Ventures LLC (SRV) and Stoneleaf Construction LLC (Stoneleaf), to its Board of Directors.

The Silo Ridge Field Club (Silo Ridge) is a private, gated community on 800 acres in Dutchess County. It is a development by SRV, a joint undertaking by Stoneleaf Partners LLC and Discovery Land Company. When all phases of construction are completed, the luxury lifestyle community will boast more than 245 luxury family residences and abundant year-round recreational and culinary opportunities. Its private Club at Silo Ridge, at the heart of the community, offers a high level of member service and family-oriented lifestyle amenities focused on active recreation. Silo Ridge also features an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course. The luxury lifestyle community employs 40 full-time employees year-round, and up to 120 during the peak summer season.

Stoneleaf, the builder for Silo Ridge, employs 40 full-time, and brings up to 200 more subcontractors to the Silo Ridge site daily as they carry the project through to completion. Torres has been functioning as chief operating officer of Stoneleaf, managing operations and growth, since helping solidify the partnership between Stoneleaf Partners and Discovery Land Company by spearheading all planning, permitting, amendments and entitlements for the project.

“In the past three years, we’ve completed more than 200,000 square feet and over $160 million of high-end residential construction work,” said Torres. “We’re proud of what we’re creating here in Dutchess County, and we look forward to sharing what we can through the HVEDC Board to help further more of the same throughout the Hudson Valley.”

Torres is a 2007 honors graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned his degree in civil engineering. Right out of school, he began taking on strategic planning roles for various companies, including Allmenus, which was subsequently acquired by GrubHub in 2011. Torres is also a partner and board member with Snackerie, an innovative snack company based in Guatemala that creates healthy fruit chips from locally sourced produce.

“Juan plays a key role in a dynamic development partnership that has brought a beautiful Work/Live/Play destination to our region,” said Mike Oates, President and CEO of HVEDC. “And, his entrepreneurial spirit is right in line with what we want to attract and encourage here. It is very exciting to welcome him and the Silo Ridge team to our Board.”
