NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (November 21, 2016) — Milea Estate Vineyard, a relatively new winery situated on a property with a rich history in the region, has joined the Hudson Valley Food and Beverage Alliance.
The Alliance, a cluster initiative of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC), helps food and beverage companies throughout the region collaborate to ultimately market their products on a national scale. The effort features a broad range of food businesses, farmers, vegetable growers, beverage makers, distributors and other industry organizations.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to join the Food and Beverage Alliance and work together with the businesses and organizations that are driving this diverse industry across the region,” said Barry Milea, owner of Milea Estate Vineyard. “Although our winery is somewhat new to the region, we have owned the land and have been a part of the Hudson Valley for more than 30 years. Milea Estate Vineyard, which opened in 2015, works to craft accessible wines rooted in the unique natural environment of the Hudson Valley. Situated in the beautiful rolling hills east of the Hudson River in Staatsburg, the winery neighbors various pastures, dairies, orchards, streams and other vineyards.
Barry Milea and his father bought the 98-acre property where the vineyard now sits in 1984. For years, Milea dreamed of returning the property to its farming origins. After years of research, he was finally able to realize his goal by partnering with Ed Evans and Bruce Tripp to open the winery.
