HVEDC Wins NYSEDC’s 2017 Excellence in Community-Based Economic Development Award, Four Additional Marketing Awards

GOSHEN, N.Y. (May 30, 2017) — The Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC) has received several honors from the New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) as part of the state agency’s 2017 awards program.

This year, HVEDC received the Excellence in Community Based Economic Development Award for its Hudson Valley EDs & MEDs initiative, an effort that culminated in its third, well-attended summit at Marist College in March. Since its launch in 2014, the Hudson Valley EDs & MEDs initiative has brought together colleges, universities and major health care providers to strengthen the regional economy and spur growth by fostering partnerships between these two critical anchor institutions.

“Hudson Valley EDC is driving collaborations between health care organizations and local colleges and universities that are accelerating the growth of an industry that is benefitting students, the area’s workforce and regional economy,” said Brian McMahon, Executive Director of the New York State Economic Development Council.

HVEDC also received a Best in Class award for its annual report, which used a comic book theme to showcase how the organization brings together “superheroes” from a wide range of industries, public agencies, academic institutions and community groups to strengthen the regional economy. In addition, NYSEDC honored HVEDC with a Certificate of Excellence for Multi-Media Advertising for digital ads promoting cider makers, craft brewers, coffee bean producers and local markets.

Rounding out the honors for HVEDC were honorable mentions in the categories of Multi-Media Advertising and Printed and Electronic Newsletter. In the latter category, the organization received praise for its HVEDC Insights, a robust quarterly newsletter featuring various articles and updates on the regional business community.

“In addition to being recognized by a well-respected state economic development organization for our groundbreaking EDs and MEDs initiative, we were equally honored to be recognized along with a fellow HVEDC board member, the Think Dutchess Alliance for Business. These awards reflect the hard work and commitment of the entire board, strategic and marketing partners,” said Laurence P. Gottlieb, president and CEO of HVEDC. “Through these efforts, we are positioning the Hudson Valley as a hub for business growth across numerous industries, including food and beverage, health care, 3D printing, play and many others.”

“I’m proud to chair such a forward-thinking organization that works to cultivate partnerships to ultimately benefit our region and its economy,” said Robert Levine, chair of the HVEDC Board of Directors. “When we all work together, we have a stronger ability to effect positive change.”
