HVEDC Welcomes The Arc of Dutchess to its Advisory Board

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (October 25, 2019) – Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC) announced the addition of The Arc of Dutchess to its Advisory Board. The organization will be represented by Chief Financial Officer Steven Constable and Chief Advancement Officer Sarah Weikel.

The Arc of Dutchess’s mission is to respect and support what matters to people with disabilities, and promote their right to achieve full inclusion and participation in the community.

The organization provides a lifetime of support to people with disabilities and their families. The Arc of Dutchess believes the cornerstones of a good life are health and wellness, friends and family, full inclusion in the community and learning that goes far beyond formal education. Through its services, the organization helps people at each stage build a strong foundation of support and the opportunity to pursue the life they imagine.

Steven Constable began his career with The Arc of Dutchess in 2001 in the position of controller. In 2002, he was promoted to chief financial officer where he has developed a reputation as a hard-working financial administrator with a heart. Constable is responsible for the direction and oversight of all financial activities of the organization. In addition, he provides analysis of financial information that allows the organization’s administration and board of directors to make decisions relative to future spending, budget, development and investments.

As a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, Constable began his career at Sperry, Cuono, Holgate and Churchill, CPA PC in Lake Katrine and then worked at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck before joining The Arc of Dutchess.

“I am looking forward to representing The Arc to HVEDC and its board of directors and building meaningful partnerships for the betterment of the Hudson Valley,” Constable said.

Sarah Weikel has been with The Arc of Dutchess since 2018 and currently serves as Chief Advancement Officer for the organization. The focus of her work is to develop strategic collaborative efforts between The Arc of Dutchess and supporters, partners and community organizations to create pathways to opportunity for people of all abilities. In addition to overseeing communications for the organization, she provides leadership for The Arc of Dutchess Foundation, and works alongside The Arc of Dutchess’ senior leadership team to establish and enact the agency’s strategic plan.

Weikel is an active community volunteer serving in various roles including: President-elect of The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) – Mid Hudson Valley; member of the Young Professionals Committee of AFP – International; member of The Arc New York’s Guardianship Sustainability Workgroup; member of the Dutchess County Community College “Bridge to the Future” Gala Committee; and member of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit Committee.

“Through HVEDC, The Arc of Dutchess can build impactful relationships with employers and service providers to create more opportunities in terms of both inclusion and participation,” Weikel said.
