The firm’s Commercial division offers boutique service for a broad range of clients locally and globally, and is expanding at an accelerated pace. Houlihan Lawrence is also committed to supporting local organizations and efforts that aim to improve people’s quality of life in the communities it serves. These include employees who serve on non-profit board appointments, participate in fundraisers, offering sponsorships, and myriad other volunteer opportunities.

Tom LaPerch, a 30-year real estate professional with additional expertise in marketing and government land planning, serves as Commercial Director for Houlihan Lawrence out of the company’s Rye Brook, N.Y. office. LaPerch is committed to keeping his clients informed of current market conditions in an ever-changing world, through 21st century knowledge encompassing all areas of commercial real estate sales and investment. LaPerch has honed his skills in market analysis, enabling him to offer relevant and creative strategies for a vast array of properties, from apartment complexes and condo developments to shopping centers and nursing homes. His wide range of knowledge also includes investment and management portfolios of distinctive, multimillion-dollar properties in medicine, technology, and land conservation.

LaPerch has been influential in shaping the commercial real estate landscape of the Hudson Valley, having brokered such high profile deals as the $4.5 million sale of the former IBM chip fabrication plant in East Fishkill in 2011, and closing the $4 million transaction for the abandoned Hudson River State Psychiatric Hospital in Poughkeepsie in 2013.

LaPerch has served on the Town of Southeast Municipal Planning Board for 17 years – including the role of Chairperson for the past four – during which time he has developed a deep understanding of land zoning issues. He was awarded the John O. Cross Award for Outstanding Planning Board Chair by the New York Planning Federation in March of 2017.

In true Houlihan Lawrence fashion, LaPerch is actively involved in his own community, where he earned the honor Volunteer of the Year in 2002. He has also been the Brewster Little League President for three years and served as Director of CYO Basketball for Saint Lawrence O’Toole Brewster program for seven years. Prior to joining Houlihan Lawrence, LaPerch served as Director of real estate development projects for a well-known firm in Dutchess County, where he was recognized as a top company producer five times, earning the company’s National Presidential Award.

“Tom is an outstanding commercial real estate professional whose successes are the result of not only his expansive knowledge and expertise, but his love of community and desire to see the ones he serves prosper,” said Mike Oates, President and CEO of HVEDC. “He has been instrumental in a handful of significant real estate projects that have had huge impacts here in the Hudson Valley, and he continues to work hard to bring more of the same to our region.”
