GOSHEN, N.Y. (January 2, 2019) – Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC) has announced the appointment of A. Alan Seidman, Executive Director of the Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley (CCA), to its Board of Directors.
CCA, based in Newburgh, N.Y., was founded more than 60 years ago by five local contractors whose goal was to create stability in the relationship between contractors and unions. In 1964 and 1972 respectively, Ulster County Contractors and the Contractors and Suppliers Association of Rockland County were brought into the fold to create a footprint encompassing seven counties, including Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Rockland. CCA connects project owners with the Hudson Valley contractors they need to complete their projects on time and within budget, with a proven strategy of providing quality management paired with outstanding workmanship. Member contractors employ local union members who are instructed through New York State-certified apprentice training programs and are OSHA certified. Throughout its existence, CCA has played a role in many of the significant construction projects that have shaped the Hudson Valley.
Seidman, a life-long resident of Cornwall, is CCA’s Executive Director. Along with that role, he is also Executive Director of Fabricators, Erectors & Reinforcing Contractors of the Hudson Valley, Inc. (FERCA) – an association of the Hudson Valley’s leading fabricators and erectors of structural steel, architectural, ornamental and miscellaneous metal products for building and heavy construction projects. Under Seidman’s leadership, CCA also assumed management of the Southeastern New York chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) in 2016. SMACNA promotes quality and excellence in the air conditioning and sheet metal industry; the Southeastern New York chapter serves members in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties.
Seidman served in the Orange County Legislature for 20 years, acting as its Chair for four of them. During his time in the legislature he helped establish a countywide 9-1-1 facility and response system to increase safety for all our residents. He was also instrumental in facilitating the plans for SUNY Orange’s expansion into the City of Newburgh.

An avid supporter of our nation’s Armed Forces, Seidman has served on the board of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc. Currently, Seidman is overseeing the design and construction of the site’s $10 million dollar expansion. Seidman also serves on the boards of Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, the Orange County Partnership, Kol Yisrael and Temple Beth Jacob. This year, Seidman was awarded the Ottaway Medal by the Orange County Citizens Foundation for his dedication and service to the greater Orange County community.
