BREAKING NEWS: ADAPT Community Network Joins HVEDC’s Board of Directors!

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (November 30, 2021) – Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC) today announced that Edward Matthews, CEO of ADAPT Community Network has joined its Board of Directors.
Edward R. Matthews, Chief Executive Officer of ADAPT Community Network (formerly United Cerebral Palsy of New York City), has worked in the developmental disabilities field since 1974. In his capacity as CEO of the organization, Matthews oversees 2,500 employees at multiple locations throughout all five boroughs of New York City. He has served as Chairman of the Public Education Committee of United Cerebral Palsy Associations in Washington D.C.  He is also the past President of the InterAgency Council (IAC) in New York City, a coordinating body and trade association consisting of over 150 agencies providing services to people with developmental disabilities.
Mr. Matthews was also appointed to be a member of the OPWDD Provider Association and the OPWDD workgroup tasked with modernizing the fiscal financial platform. He currently serves on an OPWDD Care Coordination workgroup and was the first Chair of the Board of Managers of Care Design NY, one of the six designated Care Coordination Organizations in New York State which began operations in 2018. He has, for some time, worked tirelessly to bring an integrated service delivery system to the field of developmental disabilities. He sits on the board of Partnerships for Health Care Solutions, which is responsible for Partners Health Plan the only managed care demonstration project in the U.S. devoted entirely to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Mr. Matthews holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology from Fordham University and St. John’s University, respectively. He was appointed CEO of UCP of NYC in 1989, and it is now the largest UCP affiliate in the United States providing services to more than 20,000 children, adults, and their families throughout New York City.
